Thanks for the new wallpapers!

I just can't get excited over the look. Meh. The performance and driving experience, on the other hand, I can get excited about. Someone lend me one so I can be sure.

I disagree:

Yes it has it, actually it has two.

Can't argue with the truth.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:43 |

I like the E30 better ;) But a nice E46 M3 is something I would enjoy owning.

I disrespectfully disagree with your disagreement.

Dat spoiler on the red one....
damn, makes me want an E46 right now
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:45 |

But it can't turn?
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:45 |

VANOS, Rear subframe, shitty DSG, general reliability overall, boring looks.
Sorry, disagree.

Best of the best?
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:46 |

My view is that there is no "best" sole car ever made.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:47 |

It's pretty awesome...and cheaper than finding a nice E30 (M3 that is!).

Get your eyes checked then get a test drive in one.

I work at a BMW dealership and get to drive E46 M3's of all conditions, and some of the nicer ones we get are just stunning.

Has to be a photoshop
they can't even get them off the lots

Just Because Idiots who cant drive are attracted to them doesnt mean they cant handle
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:58 |

$700, $3000, 6-speed Manual, don't buy a shitty used one, will be a highly desirable classic.
BOOM.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 19:58 |

Love Phoenix Yellow.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:00 |

Lol I kid, they can handle but not nearly as well as an E46 out of the box. Wish they would make a T/A model.

While the E46 is a wonderful car and I do love it, I believe the C5 Z06 is better, mostly because the E46 isn't much of a drag platform. Also, the Corvette's pushrod V8 is much more reliable and fuel efficient with more power, and a lower pricetag. The only two things the E46 has on the C5, in my opinion, are interior quality and number of seats. Also, the Vette comes with turn signals.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:04 |
|
Mine isn't perfect, the interior is a little worn and the front paint is a little beat from road debris that flies up but mechanically the car is rock solid and I love every second I am behind the wheel.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:05 |
|
You say $700 and $3,000 to fix those issues like it's no big deal. Some people want automatics. I dont care how well taken care if it is, its a modern BMW.
Meh.
CTS-V please.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:06 |
|
I'll have to respectfully disagree with you.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:06 |
|
However the point of an E46 M3 is not to drag race at all but to devour corners in such a savage manner as to make Corvette owner poo their pants.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:08 |
|
Holding out for the holy grail. E46 M3, 6 speed manual, porno red interior, no navigation., business radio.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:09 |
|
False. Name one category of a car's performance in which it is anywhere near the best car ever. HP, Handling, Track Times, Fuel Mileage, Looks, Reliability, etc. There are better cars in each of these metrics that we measure cars by. Its a great all around car, but far from the best ever made
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:10 |

E46: Skid Pad: 0.89 g; Ring: 8:22
C5Z: Skid Pad: 1.03 g; Ring: 7:56
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:11 |
|
Metrics aside why does every auto magazine or blog compare new cars to the E46 M3, because its the best car overall.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:15 |
|
No.
It's better when you can use it year round
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:18 |

C5Z Nurburg time: 7:56
R33 GTR Nurburg time: 8:01
E46 M3 Nurburg time: 8:22
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:19 |

Come on now compare the C5z to its equal the E46 M3 CSL
Ring: 7:50
Cornering G's (via Sport Auto) 1.4 – BMW M3 CSL*
*Have you ever wondered how hard a car will pull the corners until it lets go? If so, here’s how Sport Auto’s list goes. Cornering g’s are different from skidpad, Americans run vehicles on a circle pad to measure this figure while the Europeans use circuit corners.

You can!

You can TRY. Good luck when the going gets really tough in your RWD car :p

At that point its probably safer to stay at home, which I have no problem doing or I'll just drive my shitty Stratus.

You have couple of BEAUTIFUL cars
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:34 |

Dat interior. And on another note, dem curves.

The seats and doors are alcantara and most of the rest is carbon or leather.
Indeed.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 20:54 |

and the best color on the best car? Laguna Seca blau
![]() 10/26/2014 at 21:05 |
|
So, the E46 M3 is the best car ever made because it looks good lowered with nice wheels?
![]() 10/26/2014 at 21:31 |
|
Reviewers liking it as a reason for it being the best car overall is a horrible logical fallacy. You are assuming that their opinion is correct just because they work with cars, which is an appeal to authority. Also, every car publication doesn't compare all their new cars to the E46 M3. You aren't going to win this argument, purely because its a pointless argument. There is no "Best Car Ever". It doesn't exist
![]() 10/26/2014 at 21:37 |

Phoenix Yellow. Ugly in the most perfect way possible. Just like the clownshoe, which is gloriously ugly. And has the same engine as this, which makes it so perfect.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 21:38 |
|
3 series = Corvette
M3 = Z06
M3 CSL = ZR1 (Granted you have to go to C6 for this, but the price is equal. Ring 7:38)

See I'd say that the M3 would match up with the C5 w/ the z51 pack and the CSL and Z06 match up as the track monsters.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 22:30 |
|
Good God, so much want...
![]() 10/26/2014 at 22:31 |

I really want those seats.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 22:37 |

They look pretty awesome I want the Recaro's from the CSL but not sure I want to make the jump to fixed buckets in a car that is mostly a daily driver.
![]() 10/26/2014 at 22:46 |
|
I'm right there with you.
Why not get some BMW Performance seats?
![]() 10/27/2014 at 04:17 |

Right direction, right time frame, wrong M car. E39 M5 FTW. Sorry bro. Just is.
![]() 10/27/2014 at 09:57 |
|
This is pretty much spot on. I lulz at the Corvettes and Mopars in here. You know why they fail? Because you have to explain it to people. With an E46 M3, people already know, and that's why it wins. Pretty much The Cool Wall principle.
![]() 10/27/2014 at 10:14 |

Man, ive been reading about it for years, its about time i get behind the wheel

I agree one hundred percent.
To all the little babies whining about reliability :
1) You can buy a low KM clean example for $20000. Depreciation will be minimal if existent. If you have to spend 10 grand over 5 on repairs/non scheduled maintenance, so what. You are still getting a ton of capability for your money. Top tier handling, top tier performance, top tier practicality relative to performance, and I personally think the looks are perfect: handsome, but not brash.
Some wholes in my argument: A brand new Subaru STI, a brand new WRX, and well, thats about it.
